Cape Girardeau Family Photographer - Lori - The Superhero Project

I'd like to introduce you to Lori, our featured Superhero this week!

The Superhero Project is a personal project I'll be doing for children with special needs.  I was inspired by by friend Renee at Little Earthling Photography.  The goal of the Superhero Project is to have these children see themselves as the strong, amazing individuals that they are.

Rescued from a cardboard box when she was 8 weeks old, Lori Lancaster's life is a true miracle.

They quickly said "Yes,". After 13 months of paperwork, Lori made her way to America. , Lori now has a cochlear implant and is working with several therapists. She has become a fluent Signer and loves life. Currently, her only spoken words are bye, mama, purple, and Apple- but that never slows her down. She is super excited to enter kindergarten this year and continue gymnastics. She is an inspiration to many and has stolen the hearts of her big family.

As a tiny baby, she arrived at a Chinese Orphanage where they discovered she was profoundly deaf. She was blessed to be sent to an orphanage with a strong American influence.  Long story short- she found her way into the hearts of the Lancaster family who chose her as their sponsor child through the orphanage website. Within days, the Lancaster's from Sikeston we're asked if they were willing to move past sponsorship and onto adoption.
